The range of services offered by Radsatzfabrik Ilsenburg GmbH is extensive: from running wheelsets for passenger and goods transport through driving wheelsets for locomotives and wheelsets of adjustable gauges for commuter traction trains (suburban and underground trains) to manifold special wheelsets for track-bound cranes and machinery.
Depending on the specifications for the particular applications, wheelsets are equipped with wheel disk brakes, axle-mounted brake discs, hollow shafts or drive elements and gearings. Depending on the design, wheelset shafts can accommodate up to four axle-mounted brake discs.
The technical facilities availed of by the company permit wheelsets to be joined in special gauge widths of 550 to 2,500 mm for static wheelset loads of up to 40 tonnes. In cooperation with DB Cargo, Radsatzfabrik Ilsenburg GmbH developed a wheelset for automatically changing from track widths of 1,435 mm to 1,520 mm and 1,668 mm without necessitating smaller wheelset loads which translates into essentially shorter traction changing times at change-of-gauge stations.
The patented “DB AG/RAFIL, type V” wheelset of adjustable gauge is supplemented by the appropriate adaptations to brake and clutch mechanisms as well as track systems for the "change-of-gauge" system and for goods transport between tracks in Portugal and Spain as far as the CIS and Finland representing an innovative alternative within the united states of Europe.
Wheelsets featuring the reduced-mass "Original Ilsenburger Leichtvollrad" (lightweight solid wheel) from Radsatzfabrik Ilsenburg GmbH can be used for high-speed railway transport in Europe to maximum speeds of 300 km/h.
Equipping trains such as the ICE 2 with high-speed wheelsets featuring the lightweight solid wheel underlines the company’s competence in this area. The manufacturing range offered by Radsatzfabrik Ilsenburg GmbH is rounded off by an extensive range of individual and spare wheelset components.
Depending on the requirements of international railway companies and private vehicle adjusters, solid wheels in 650 to 1,250 mm, rolled or cast wheel bodies, wheel tyres, wheels with tyres, wheelset shafts with and without hollow borings, brake disks with divided friction rings and wheelset bearings are manufactured as elements.
Radsatzfabrik Ilsenburg GmbH performs reworking on wheelsets at service levels IS 1–3 for railway companies and private vehicle adjusters as well as offering a full service for selected wheelset models. IT-supported reworking permits just-in-time deliveries to customers.
